Marie. The Artist's history.
Inspiration Home Materials and Methods Studies Exhibitions
To paint the light, colour, atmosphere of our beautiful environment, this is the pleasure of painting, the joy, the frustration, the challenge. Landscapes and coastal images of Western Australia are favourites of Maries.
The capital city of WA is Perth, it is one of the most isolated cities of the world. This western state of Australia covers 33% +plus of the continent and its coast is 12,000 kms long.
Marie lives in northern Perth suburb of Duncraig. A road hugging the coast nearby is named the "Sunset Coast" tourist drive. There are numerous beaches, the Marmion Marine Park and offshore, 18 kms away, can be seen the Island of Rottnest.

Materials and Methods
I only use artist quality materials: acid free watercolour papers; paints such as Winsor&Newton, Atelier, Matisse, Art Spectrum. Also I am careful about framing using specialists because the majority of my artwork is in watercolour it needs to be framed behind glass.
Work will often commence on site with sketches, notes and photographic records. This is a way of capturing the best feeling and atmosphere of the subject. Painting may then start on site and be continued in my studio at home.
I have been fortunate enough to see quite a lot of the famous Art Galleries of the world. This was as a young adult. Since then it is whenever I can. Loved art study at high school. Then during 1990s I began studying art history, drawing and painting more thoroughly at the local West Coast Art College of TAFE. I have continued to learn and work attending classes and workshops as well as the occasional teaching.
